Wood Floor Finish Specifications
Manufacturer-published specifications for wood floor finishes, transcribed into one comparable table: VOC content, solids, coverage, cure schedule, whether the finish forms a film, and whether damage can be spot-repaired. Where a manufacturer does not publish a figure, the field is empty rather than estimated.

Key facts
| Products covered | 2 (expanding as data sheets are verified) |
|---|---|
| Values are | Transcribed from manufacturer technical data sheets |
| Empty field means | Not published by the manufacturer — never estimated |
| Independent testing | None — these are manufacturer claims |
| Licence | CC BY 4.0 |
What this table can and cannot tell you
It compares what manufacturers publish about their own products, under their own test conditions — it is not independent testing.
That is a real limitation and worth stating plainly. Abrasion claims in particular are made under manufacturer-selected conditions and are not directly comparable across brands the way a VOC figure is.
What the table does well is put the structural differences side by side: film-forming versus penetrating, one component versus two, cure measured in days versus hours. Those differences are factual and they drive the decision more than any durability claim does.
Why the list is short
Only products whose manufacturer data sheet we have actually read are listed here.
It would be easy to fill this table with a dozen products by copying figures from retailer listings. Retailer copy is frequently wrong, and a wrong VOC number in a table like this is worse than an absent row.
The list grows as data sheets are verified against the manufacturer's own documentation.

Method and limitations
Manufacturer technical data sheets, linked per row
- Values are transcribed from manufacturer documentation. An empty field means the manufacturer does not publish that figure — it is never estimated.
- Coverage and cure figures are manufacturer claims under their stated test conditions, not independent measurements.
Frequently asked questions
Which wood floor finish has the lowest VOC?
Of the products listed, Rubio Monocoat Oil Plus 2C publishes 0% VOC with a 100% solids, solvent-free formulation. Bona Traffic HD publishes 150 g/L with hardener.
What does film-forming mean?
A film-forming finish cures into a layer sitting on top of the wood. A penetrating finish bonds into the top wood fibres instead. It determines whether damage can be spot-repaired or requires recoating an area.
Are these figures independently tested?
No. They are transcribed from manufacturer technical data sheets and represent manufacturer claims under their stated conditions.
Why are some fields blank?
Because the manufacturer does not publish that figure. We leave it empty rather than filling it with an estimate.
Will more products be added?
Yes, as manufacturer data sheets are verified. We do not add rows from retailer product listings.
