Why stairs are priced differently from floors

A staircase is almost entirely edge, corner and detail work done by hand — there is no open field for a machine to cover quickly.

Every tread and riser is an edge, and balusters that cannot be removed turn each step into hand work around obstructions.

Stairs are also the one surface a household cannot stop using, so the work is staged to keep a usable route, which extends the schedule.

Commercial work runs backward from the reopening date

On a gymnasium or a studio, the return-to-service date is fixed first and the finish system is chosen to fit inside it.

A finish that needs more cure days than the closure allows is the wrong finish, however well it performs.

Dry and cured are not the same milestone. A floor that takes foot traffic is not necessarily ready for equipment or rolling loads.

Not sure which of these you need?

Send photos of the floor. We will tell you which service applies and, just as often, which one you do not need.
